Who
Should Attend the PC Refresh Training
EVERYONE! All full-time and part-time (adjunct) faculty and
staff should attend these sessions, even if you are not
getting a new computer.
If you
are a part-time employee (faculty or staff) and you use a
computer in your office, you will most likely be getting a
redeployed Dell computer. The redeployed computers
will also have the new programs listed above, so you will
need to learn how to use them, as well.

more information about the Redeployment phase of this
project.

Why Attend the PC Refresh
Training
As part
of the June/July 2005 PC Refresh/Redeploy projects, all
full-time faculty & staff will receive
new Dell computers, while
many part-time faculty & staff who currently have computers
will receive a redeployed
Dell PC.
All of these computers will have the following software
installed:
-
Microsoft Office 2003,
which is an upgrade from Office 2002 (XP)
-
Mozilla
Thunderbird
will replace Netscape Messenger for Email
-
Internet Explorer
will replace Netscape Navigator for web browsing
-
Sonic RecordNow!
Plus, will replace Roxio Easy CD Creator
-
Microsoft Active
Directory will replace Novell for networking
While
most of the changes to Microsoft Office 2003 are minimal
(except for FrontPage), we are moving to a new email
program, a new CD burning program, and for
many people, a new web browsing program
(Internet Explorer). You will most likely need some help
learning to use these new programs.
