Professional Development Plans assist students and professionals in achieving their goals. This workshop prepares students to develop an Individual Professional Development Plan for their educational pursuits and professional interests. Students will learn steps they can take now to investigate their interests, and determine what they want their professional future to look like. They will learn strategies to develop a plan including how to identify strengths, recognize talents, identify values, develop skills or competencies, develop goals, analyze needs, conduct a self assessment, identify learning priorities, recognize their definition of work, evaluate their work style, and develop networking skills such as informational interviewing to recognize and achieve their goals. Students will learn how activities can enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities, and how developing a plan can empower them to pursue their aspirations by making them realistic goals. French, German, Italian, and Spanish language tables meet every week; all levels of speakers are welcome and encouraged to attend, for however long or little. All tables meet over lunch in the Italian Kitchen in Dougherty Hall. CALL FOR PROPOSALS
On behalf of the Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the College of Engineering, the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is pleased to announce the fourth annual CALL FOR PROPOSALS by the Villanova University Undergraduate Student Collaborative Research Program. Undergraduates from all of the Colleges may apply for funding to undertake a scholarly research project with a Faculty Sponsor. Research projects may be conducted during the fall or spring semesters, or over the summer. Students funded by the program will receive a stipend of $1,000 for fall or spring projects, and $3,500 for summer projects.

James Madison Fellowships
The Foundation is seeking applicants with a demonstrated commitment to a career in teaching American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary level. Junior fellowships are awarded to students who are about to complete, or have completed, their undergraduate course of study and intend to pursue full-time graduate work. National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarship
The Institute of International Education (IIE) is accepting applications for the 2009-2010 National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarships for undergraduate students for study abroad. The 2009-2010 Boren Scholarships provide funding for summer, semester, or yearlong study in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. national security, but are underrepresented in study abroad. After completion of the program, recipients are required to work in the Federal government for a period of time equal to the duration of the assistance provided under the program. 2009 Summer Editorial Internship
The Philadelphia Business Journal seeks college students for its paid editorial internship. Candidates should have some previous writing experience and be able to commit to 20 hours a week for the term. Editorial internships pay $8/hr and include opportunities to write bylined features. The deadline to apply is February 13, 2009. Starting and ending dates are negotiable but preference will go to the candidate who can begin in late May and work until replaced by a fall intern in late August or early September. The Philadelphia Business Journal is a weekly local business newspaper serving Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey. 20th Annual Elizabeth Cady Stanton Conference
The 20th Annual Elizabeth Cady Stanton Conference will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009. The event will culminate in a keynote address by Linda Greenhouse, the Supreme Court reporter for The New York Times. Every spring, the Gender and Women's Studies program organizes the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Conference to highlight and celebrate the incisive work produced by students from all across campus during the previous year. It features a number of panels where both undergraduate and graduate students present their work, as well as a keynote address from an invited scholar.

Literary Festival: Join Poet Natasha Trethewey
February 17 at 7 p.m. in the first floor lounge of Falvey Memorial Library. Natasha Trethewey writes finely crafted, very accessible poems that deal with highly charged issues around race and gender. Her first two poetry collections, Domestic Work (2000) and Bellocq’s Ophelia (2002), received a number of awards.The reading will be followed by a reception and book signing. The event is part of the University's Black History Month celebrations and Africana Studies Program 15th anniversary.
