2009-2010 Legatum Fellowship at MIT
Applications are now being accepted for the 2009-2010 Legatum Fellowship at MIT. MIT and the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship are pleased to introduce its fellowship program for aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to develop innovative businesses that will promote prosperity in the developing world. The program is open to incoming and current MIT graduate students, across all academic and professional disciplines. The fellowship provides financial assistance, business plan coaching, specialized seminars, and opportunities to engage with some of the world’s leading thinkers and change-agents. Berlin Scholarships
The Program Berlin Scholarships allows international students to study for one year at a university in Berlin. Along with their studies in Berlin, the scholarship holders will work in small groups together on a project with the topic “Excluded and Persecuted: Finding Responses to the Experience in 20th Century Europe." CALL FOR PROPOSALS
On behalf of the Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the College of Engineering, the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships is pleased to announce the fourth annual CALL FOR PROPOSALS by the Villanova University Undergraduate Student Collaborative Research Program. Undergraduates from all of the Colleges may apply for funding to undertake a scholarly research project with a Faculty Sponsor. Research projects may be conducted during the fall or spring semesters, or over the summer. Students funded by the program will receive a stipend of $1,000 for fall or spring projects, and $3,500 for summer projects. APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH

James Madison Fellowships
The Foundation is seeking applicants with a demonstrated commitment to a career in teaching American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary level. Junior fellowships are awarded to students who are about to complete, or have completed, their undergraduate course of study and intend to pursue full-time graduate work. National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarship
The Institute of International Education (IIE) is accepting applications for the 2009-2010 National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarships for undergraduate students for study abroad. The 2009-2010 Boren Scholarships provide funding for summer, semester, or yearlong study in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. national security, but are underrepresented in study abroad. After completion of the program, recipients are required to work in the Federal government for a period of time equal to the duration of the assistance provided under the program. Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program
The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program provides undergraduate and graduate funding to participants as they are prepared academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. Students who apply during their sophomore year are eligible for funding for their junior and senior years of college and paid State Department summer internships in Washington and overseas. Graduating seniors and recent graduates are able to apply for the graduate fellowship which includes funding for their first and second year of graduate school and paid State Department internships in Washington and overseas. Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program in Germany
UROP, Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, fosters research partnerships between qualified undergraduate students from US and Canadian universities and professional researchers at RWTH Aachen University, one of the top academic institutions of science and engineering in Germany and worldwide. INTERNSHIPS
Regional Internship with Catholic Relief Services
Each fall the Northeast Regional Office of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) (located 10 minutes from campus) offers a three-credit academic internship placement for a qualified "rising junior" in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The student intern must be available to work in the CRS office on Thursdays only, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the entire semester. The intern will assist the CRS Justice and Peace Liaison with research and preparing presentations and materials for use in CRS outreach. Catholic Relief Services is the international relief and development agency of the U.S. Catholic community. The application deadline for the Fall 2009 CRS Internship is Friday, February 6, 2009.

20th Annual Elizabeth Cady Stanton Conference
The 20th Annual Elizabeth Cady Stanton Conference will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009. The event will culminate in a keynote address by Linda Greenhouse, the Supreme Court reporter for The New York Times. Every spring, the Gender and Women's Studies program organizes the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Conference to highlight and celebrate the incisive work produced by students from all across campus during the previous year. It features a number of panels where both undergraduate and graduate students present their work, as well as a keynote address from an invited scholar.

POLIS Literary Magazine is accepting submissions for its Spring 2009 Issue up to February 27. For this issue of POLIS, we are looking for essays, short stories, poetry, photography, and artwork that all connect to the central theme of contrast. Contrasts exist everywhere in our world - city/country, tradition/ innovation, truth/fiction. Explore how a stark contrast has shaped your point of view. Or reflect on how two seemingly dissimilar things have connected in ways you never anticipated. Whatever your viewpoints, express them.
