Description
The "Copier/MFP* Replacement Program" is designed
to replace the University’s aging Minolta copiers
with an equivalent product from Canon's highly rated suite
of products. Included with this replacement program is
a contractual arrangement with XSE to provide support,
supplies, and consultation.
Objective
The objective of the Copier/MFP Replacement Program is
to replace Minolta copiers with Cannon Multi Function
Print devices, which provide scanning, copying, and network
print capabilities. This includes the proper sizing of
the new equipment based upon the printing statistics
obtained from the older Minolta devices.
Currently there are less then 100 copiers in use
across campus in various stages of their lease life cycles.
how Does it work?
The execution of the copier replacement program will be
primarily dictated by the lease expiration of the existing
Minolta equipment. By organizing all departments on campus
by the expiration date of their existing equipment, a
phased approach can be taken for the deployment of the
new equipment.
About one month before a department's copier
is up for renewal, the usage statistics for their current
copier will need to be reviewed. Based upon these statistics
an appropriately sized Cannon MFP device will be selected
and scheduled for delivery. A document outlining the new
devices capabilities and its installation date will be
distributed to all members of the target department.
On the scheduled day, the new Cannon MFP
will be installed, connected to the network, and provided
with an analog phone line for FAX purposes. The departmental
computers will have the appropriate printer and fax drivers
installed, and each workstation will be tested to insure
that they can communicate with the MFP device.
